Event start at 4:00 PM - swimming and appetizers

Dinner start at 6:00 PM - Raclette

 

Free event (wine included).

Bring a dessert if you would like.

You can also bring lampions and small fireworks like volcanoes and sparklers (but nothing that flies up in the air).

  • Music videos by some of our members, with beautiful pictures of Switzerland

  • A craft demonstration with Lilian and her grandchildren

  • A baking demonstration by one of our members, chef Debra Pletscher

  • A short story, read by one of our members

  • Photo slide show of the SASH Holiday Party

  • Santa Claus with a message from the North Pole

At the end of the program, everybody had a chance to give a personal Christmas greeting!

Grilled sausages, sauerkraut, potato salad and rustic bread, beer, bottled water and coffee.

Wait for the "grill master" or grill it yourself on the wood burning fire pit.

There was a pool to jump in and cool down.

Bring your friends and join us for this traditional Swiss cheese dish. We will have a buffet with potatoes, pickles and salad. Wine and soft drinks available at the cash bar.

Your contribution of a dessert would be very welcome!

Free raffle tickets will be handed out at the event. Prizes include gift baskets and wine bottles.

What better way to watch a mid-summer's fireworks display than from the cool top of a boat? Gather your friends and hit the road down to Sam's Dock at Twin Coves Marina, 4500 Murrell Park Road, Flower Mound, TX 75022.

The Swiss Cruise departs on Friday, July 27 at 8:00PM

 6:00 PM Snack at the Rockin' S Bar and Grill

- Meet us for an optional snack at the Rockin' S Bar and Grill at Twin Coves Marina, 4500 Murrell Park Road, Flower Mound, TX 75022.

- You can also bring your own snacks and drinks to consume on the boat. Small (!) coolers and alcoholic beverages are permitted. Soft drinks and bottled water are provided.

Texas Hill Country Weekend

June 1 - 3, 2018

Join us for a fun-filled weekend in Fredericksburg with Swiss compatriots from all over Texas!

It is not necessary to be a member of the Swiss Community of Texas to participate at this event and you can bring a friend if you like, but you should be Swiss or of Swiss descent. If you can’t make it for Friday evening, Saturday morning arrival is also OK because arrival and departure times are individual.

​

  • Friday evening: Welcome Dinner and socializing in Fredericksburg.

  • Saturday morning: Private Historic Bus Tour with an expert historian in an air-conditioned bus. $14.00 per person.

  • Saturday afternoon: Wine Tasting at Kuhlman Cellars in Stonewall. $22.00 per person.

  • Saturday evening: Dinner and Entertainment at Barons Creekside The Club in Fredericksburg. Concert by Swiss singer Silvie Rider and her husband Red Young. Cover charge $10 per person.

  • Sunday: Trip to Enchanted Rock Park or to Luckenbach Texas.

  • Sunday evening: Farewell Dinner in Fredericksburg.

 

In between: Lots of other activities like museum visits etc.

We will be having a raffle. Prizes include gift baskets and wine bottles etc. Tickets will be handed out at event.

We will meet for lunch at the SMOKY ROSE restaurant (at everybody’s discretion). Then we will walk over to the Arboretum and will all enter together. A group discount is offered for 15 people or more.

 

You can participate in the activities of your choice:

  • The 12 Days of Christmas – elaborately decorated Victorian-style gazebos

  • The Nutcracker Suite – a magnificent nutcracker collection display (until 4:00 pm)

  • Mistletoe kissing booth – kiss a loved one under the mistletoe (until 5:00 pm)

  • Visits with Santa – in Crape Myrtle Allee (until 4:00 pm)

  • The Meyer Children Adventure Garden (extra admission $3.00)

  • Holiday hunt for Santa’s helpers - throughout the children adventure garden

  • Craft corner at the exploration center (create a holiday craft to take home)

  • Plant Lab at the exploration center: Explore the wonders of melting snowflakes and endothermic reactions “Let it Snow” at 3:00 pm. 

 

Before going home, we will meet for a “Schlummertrunk” (night cap) at about 4:00pm.

​

Besides English, Swiss German will definitely be spoken at this event and perhaps even some French and Italian.

Dinner and Fireworks Cruise on Lake Grapevine

Twin Coves Marina, Green Oakes Drive, Flower Mound, TX 75022.

 

Plenty of parking spaces available. Dock, restaurant and boat are all wheelchair accessible.

​

We will meet at 7:00pm at the air-conditioned Rockin' S Bar and Grill on the dock of Twin Coves Marina for dinner, a snack or just a drink (optional and at everyone's own expense).

​

Fireworks Cruise:

Adults (age 14 and up): $25.00

Children (age 13 and under): $8.00.

 

Boarding starts at 8:00pm. The boat will leave the dock at 8:30pm and return at 10:30pm. Fireworks at 9:30pm.

 

There will be complimentary soda and water on the boat and you can bring your own beverages if you like; alcohol is permitted.
